After graduating from Liverpool John Moores University with an LLB (Hons) degree in Law, I completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Central Lancashire and joined Birchall Blackburn Law in 2006.
I worked within the clinical negligence team for some time before moving on to complete my training contract. Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2010, I have worked in the residential conveyancing department. With over fourteen years of experience in residential conveyancing, I have an excellent understanding of property law and a wealth of knowledge and expertise in a wide range of property matters.
I was promoted to Partner and became head of our conveyancing training and quality team, which enabled me to share my knowledge and experience with others. Our team delivers training and guidance across the whole conveyancing department to ensure a complete understanding of conveyancing laws and procedures and maximise the service we can offer our clients. We have also developed our internal conveyancing academy, providing a learning and development pathway. It enables our conveyancing employees to record their knowledge and skills development, taking them from a position of ‘no prior knowledge’ to fully experienced conveyancing fee earners.
What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding?
I take pride in helping our conveyancing teams progress and expand their knowledge and experiences, making them excellent conveyancers. This ultimately results in an even better service for our clients.
Where is your favourite place to holiday in, England or Wales?
Cornwall
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend much time driving my son around to extracurricular activities – mainly football! I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends and exploring and discovering new places.
I recently used Birchall Blackburn for selling a house and buying another. Some of this happened during lockdown . Our solicitor/ conveyancer Andrea and her staff were excellent. They had to navigate all sorts of hurdles caused by lockdown conditions. Also, their web portal is good so you can upload documents instead of having to post them, so this seems to speed things up for being dealt with a lot faster than more paper-based conveyancers. I was impressed at the fact they managed to carry on working efficiently despite the difficulties it must have presented due to the pandemic. With the threat of houses falling through at that time speed was of the essence and I am so grateful for their efforts to get the purchase completed. I liked the fact you could ring / e-mail the conveyancer directly and not have to ring call handlers in contact centre as with some others.
I am extremely pleased with the communication and efficient service. Andrea Fairweather was excellent with her correspondence and explanations of the different paperwork requirements. This meant our house move was stress free with regard to the legalities. Andrea was keen to ensure we understood all aspects and was very professional in her approach. I would like to thank her and Birchall Blackburn for their efficient service
