Many of the people and families that we support have needs that go beyond legal services, which is why we work together with charities that assist families in need, help people live a good life and campaign for positive change.
Whether you contact us by email, telephone or request a callback, Birchall Blackburn Law will not charge you for your initial enquiry. We will ask you for, or to confirm, your personal contact details and we will want to know some information about the reasons why you need legal help and support.
Once we have established what type of legal service you require, we will put you in contact with one of our specialist solicitors who has experience and expertise within the field of law that you need. The solicitor will offer free and confidential initial enquiry and advice to establish whether we can help with your legal needs.
Like most solicitors, Birchall Blackburn Law will not charge you for your initial enquiry and will provide 20 to 30 minutes of advice for free.
Before taking on your case the solicitor will discussion potential costs with you and the possible payment options, which may include ‘no win, no fee’, damages-based agreements, free or one-off payment advice.
Costs for legal services vary greatly and will depend on which solicitor you choose, the type of legal service, the complexity of the legal support you require, and many other factors.
If the solicitor can take on your case and before they start work, they will talk you through the potential costs and the payment options, which may include ‘no win, no fee’, damages-based agreements, free or one-off payment advice.
If you need help paying your solicitor’s fees, you may be able to get legal aid or other free legal help. Our solicitors can discuss this with you during the initial enquiry stage.
Our solicitors will be happy to talk to you about how much your case is likely to cost at the outset. If there are costs involved then they will keep you updated about costs during the process and provide you with a final invoice clearly showing what work was done and when, and the amount charged.
Solicitors are subject to the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) Price Transparency Rules and you are free to challenge the cost of your legal support through the Solicitors Regulations Authority and the Senior Courts Costs Office.
If you are unhappy or concerned about our service, the best way of sorting it out is to tell the person working for you or ask to speak to their team leader. They will deal with the issue as sympathetically, promptly, and effectively as possible, and to try to understand why you are unhappy.
You can also speak to our Client Services Team about any issues or concerns you may have. You can contact the team by email to enquiries@birchallblackburn.co.uk, by post (14th Floor, St James’s Tower, 7 Charlotte Street, Manchester, M1 4DZ) or by phone (0161 238 5634). If the issue cannot be dealt with informally then the Client Service Team will follow our formal complaints procedure.
You may also refer any complaints about our service to the Legal Ombudsman, if we have been unable to agree a resolution. This is an independent service and will not affect how we handle your case.
