    Get to know me

I started my career on the Wyre Coast training and experiencing all areas of contentious law. After moving to South Ribble I developed a passion for family, which I have specialised in since, maintaining my career in Lancashire before finally settling at Birchall Blackburn Law in Preston. Having been born in Preston, I have a strong affiliation with the city.

I’ve held the Law Society’s Family Law Specialist Accreditation for over 20 years. I am also trained to practice as a Collaborative Lawyer, one of only a handful in Lancashire. I’m also a member of Resolution and vice chair of the North West and Cumbria Resolution Committee. Resolution members are professionals in family law who work in a committed and non-confrontational approach to resolve family issues and disputes constructively.

What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding?

Finding a solution to what seemed an impossible situation for my client.

What three things would you take to a desert island?

A good book, sun cream and then a boat to come and go as I please.

    Do you have any pets?

Several! We are a family of animal lovers, which includes dogs, cats, pot belly pigs and chickens. There is nothing more enjoyable than fresh eggs each morning.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in England or Wales?

When the children were little, we would spend many a short break, often a family affair with grandparents, in Anglesey just off the Welsh coast. The beaches are sublime and if the weather is with you, it feels like you are abroad. It’s only a 90 minute drive from home.

Do you have any hidden talents?

    Hopefully! I’m still looking.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Downtime is spent with family, friends and a menagerie of animals. To relax I enjoy cooking and baking, reading, and a good movie. Current focus is cultivating my kitchen garden, there is something magical and very satisfying about growing your food from seed, then from harvest to plate in a few hours.

Gill and the team provided me with a highly professional management of my separation, Divorce, finances and children’s proceedings! Calm, intelligent and strategic. Gill sought out practical resolutions to complex problems and supported me through difficult negotiations and managed to get the results I needed.
